Glow sticks at concerts?

Glow sticks for A Night in Fantasia 2009?
We'd probably sell them for $5 or something.
Yay or Nay?

Nay, it's the wrong kind of concert, methinks.

I'm thinking it might distract everyone from watching what we've got lined up on the big screen. Definitely could be considered for a concert that didn't have any big screen visuals though, or if the concert had more of a rock and roll focus.

Though, I could envisage maybe one special piece of music using the audiences collaboration in making it happen. I dunno how, like clapping and stomping feet in unison. Organising some sort of canon (or rounds) with sections of the audience. It would really have to depend on the piece though. That could be fun.

I would have thought glowsticks is more of a rave thing. I have been to concerts (Green Day) where the group asks everyone to get out and hold up their mobile phones though (as opposed to lighters).
I don't know who you are and how you got here

No Way. Not a good idea at all. I don't want to be distracted from the orchestra. The audience should be completely dark and the only lights in the building should be coming from the screens or over the orchestra. Turn off your mobile phones too!

Aww... I thought it'd be nice for the orchestra to see a wave of fluorescent light than gloomy dark and abyss of the great hall, blinded by the spotlight and unsure of where we are.

Ok, I'm kidding.

I don't think glow sticks would suit this type of concerts but maybe it is a nice change =) You could try it out before the concert and see how it looks like.

considering this is an orchestral concert, musicians tend to need to focus on their playing
rather than be distracted by these glowy things moving in their corner of their eye...

i mean, isn't it requested that people refrain from using
their phones, cameras, videos & other digital devices for the exact same reason?
(obviously also because of copyright issues but that's not the point here >A>'')
