Fave Miyazaki Film?

I've seen almost all of them.
Yet to see porco and totoro and fireflies.

My favourite is Naussica. From the moment this started I loved everything about the style and feel of it. As well as it being an engaging and much more mature story than many of the Ghibli films. Like some of the other Ghibli films it pushes that epic bar up there, and isnt just a colour show.

Then it would be followed by Howls. It has beautiful art at the top of Ghibli's range, mainly because it's the most recent. As well as that I think this story has the best love story of any Ghibli film I've seen. Sure enough, in almost all of them, there is some kind of love interest, but it's nothing really developed. A lot of the time it's pretty much nonexistant.
I think it's great the way they took an old woman as the main lead and made you forget it.

Nowadays I find Spirited away a bit too kiddy, and less interesting.
Moreso with Kiki's, and The cat returns, I found they very kiddy. It was enjoyable for a viewing, but not probably something i'd get again.
However Spirtied away does have more maturity to it than those.

Laputa was less childish than those 2, it has a bit of an edge to it. I like the fact that it has two protagonists, and a young boy (not just a young girl) actually has a leading role in a Ghibli film.

Mononoke stood up well, I like that this is centred around characters that are more grown up. It's a much more mature anime than the others, however I didn't find it as the greatest ghibli achievement, as it is often given.

Either way, they've all been very enjoyable. And I hope to see the rest soon as well.

But also Howl's moing castle. They both have simliar cute looking guys in it Wink

Which made it that much more interesting

Grave of the Fireflies was so sad. The slow storyline and hardly any use of speech gave it more depth when u really got to know the characters.

But the best can't be chosen cause they all have their own unique style and plot Very Happy

... and also because I LOVE THEM ALL !!! Razz

or maybe i was just too young when these ones came out in tapes or the laser disc (back in the 80s i think)

oohh and the first ever film by h miyazaki is laputa castle in the sky, of course the whole thing was in japanese at that time and i couldn't figure out the name on the laser disc haha, and then 15 years later finally i saw the dvd again in a store and the old memory came back, wow talking about coincidence.

oh btw i never heard of my neighbours the yamatos before (sorry if i got the title wrong)

Grave of the Fireflies was incredibly moving to me, and Princess Mononoke was good for me.

Spirited away and Howls were a bit weird...

I want to see Nauscia and Laputa... The Ghibli musem in Mitaka was amazing. I urge any Ghibli fan, art, design or animation appreciator to book your tickets in advanced and be blown away when you step into that building.

Hehe, such a cute movie but kind of pointless..... the kids were so cute!! Especially Mei <--- KAWAII YO!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL My Neighbour Totoro was the first Miyazaki film I ever watched but I agree with you bb haha, it doesn't have the same sort of ... moral impact as some of Miyazaki's other films. I reckon Princess Monoke or Howl's Moving Castle is Miyazaki's finest.

Totoro is definintly one of the best..
And I love cat returns

Actually I think its easier to pick out which movies you DIDNT like.. the list is shorter

I've watched it at least 10 times, Very Happy

but seems not a lot of people love it that much.

i like most others as well, howl's moving castle, spirited away, grave of fireflies, totoro. these are the ones i'm willing to buy and rewatch

Judging from all of those, I'd say spirited away... but presonally my vote goes to porco rosso =] Just because I first watched it like, when I was 5 or something... awesome... left such a great impression on me. I feel so nostalgic whenever I watch it again.

uwah uve nearli watched all of them? ive onlee watched around 3 >< which are princess mononoke, spirited away and howls moving castle T___T but yeah so far i love of them...i just love how its just so random and how he kicks in all sorts of funky and cute monsters in ^^ its just not like a typical movie =D but i reali love princess mononoke and howl's moving castle and yeah....HMC does have the bestest love story ^^ even tho princess mononoke is reali sweet XD like how Ashitaka told San that shes pretty...

I saw My Neighbour Totoro when I was really little, and it's stayed with me all these years, but upon watching it again recently, I found it to be a little too pointless and kiddy for me.

I love Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle.

The characters in Spirited Away are too young for the implied love story and having a person who has a pig face in Porco Rosso just didn't appeal to me. I watched Kiki's delivery service with cantonese dubbing, which totally ruined it for me.
