Casey send me a copy of it. As my harmony/keyboard exam lumes I would like to see how far my sight reading skills have depleted...
People if you want an excuse to quit music, all you have to do is over practise, over stretch your hands and get rsi. Worked for me...haven't played properly for a year and 5 months |

I don't think I even have the motivation to over practice |

i printed it off today and sight read through it....its not as hard i thought it was hahaha. its just really fast xP play it through at a regular tempo its quite easy...except for those 9ths which i have trouble reaching XP
getting it up to speed would be the main problem for me, but i can't be bothered to learn this piece. I wanna get into some classical atm XD.
still need to practice scales anyway XD my piano playing crappy compared to kcs hahaha. actually never heard her play, but i KNOW.

lol thats craziness. there have been times where i have over practiced after not practicing properly for a long time - like getting back into scales waaaaaay to fast (and horribly uneven for that matter) and practicing hanon exercises again.
You get this AWESOME feeling in your forearms. awesome pain that is...lasts for a few days, but if you keep practicing with the pain for a while you'll end up like Night_Music hahaha. Netherless she's also a crazy piano player too XD
I practice waaaaay too little for a music student xP and very inconsistantly...thats very bad XD
*goes off and practices stupid exercises and technical work* |

Why not learn the scale cycle. It's so cool, cured me of my hatred for scale practise. It allows you to play all 24 scales in one go. I'll show you how to next time I see you. It's really very good! |

My piano teacher had a concert at her house last night.
And I was sooo nervous.
I screwed up really really bad.
AndI'm gonna fail my exam...and it's really soon! HELP MEEE! |

Don't stress, it's all good. You just practise the bars that you have blanks on over and over until it comes good.
If your scales are uneven I find the best way to cure that is to practise in rhythms. Best ones are crotchet quaver rhythms. Make sure that when you play the rhythms it's really tight and secure, with each hand in time with one another. Also, the slower the better so you can exadurate the jaggedness of the rhythm.
Then reverse it so it'll be quaver crotchet quaver crotchet. You'll find after practising with rhythms, playing the scale (having returned to the even rhythmic pattern) will be much smoother and easier.
I'll draw up what the scale cycle looks like on Finale and post it up so everyone can see and discover how fun scales can actually be! |

Thanks for the tips, Night_Music
I had my piano lesson last night and my teacher said if I don't improve my scales, I will fail my technique >.>
I have to work extra hard this week for piano! And I have so many things due in for school and tests ><
I don't have dodgy wrists...I have dodgy knees...I trained for badminton too much, they said my cartilidge might be wearing out. |

Thanks guys for all the advice!
You wiull be glad to know that today was my piano exam.
And I screwed it up real bad...
My teacher said she wouldn't be surprised if I failed.
My parents said they will happy with a pass.
And they still want me to continue music...
I really don't want to...
So I need more excuses...better persuasion techniques T_T
Anyway, I'm depressed. |

Alright! Great job! Now you can breathe a sigh of relief!
Just keep on practising those scales - I cannot begin to tell you how nice it is to be able to play all 24 at lesuire |

one:haha congrats!!! keep playing piano, whether or not you stop examinations =)
lucy: its not reeeeeeeeaally 24 and i'm sure you know that lol. forgot to ask you about the scale cycle thing at ANIF07 xP but nevertheless it does keep your fingers going.
12 keys X (maj + har min + chromatic) x contrary (+ mel min + modes) + blue scales + FANCY SCHMANCY "FOREIGN" scales (clearly i don't know them) = something or majingos.
(anyone that knows maths would see that this is somewhat horribly wrong.)
oh yeah, for modes would you use the same fingering as the original root scale, or would you just change it accordingly...are there any official fingerings for modes? o.o |

I just meant basic 24 major/minor. The other things are extras, which you add in after playing the 24 basic |

My parents want me to keep doing exams, but I don't.
I certainly will keep playing though! |

Opps - forgot about your question
I'm not sure if there's any official fingerings, but at your level you probably wouldn't need them anyway - I would stick with the root scale fingerings and change accordingly Maybe work out the most comfortable patterns for yourself and go with that. Or you could look it up in a piano technique book - it's worth a try if you really want to know. |
