I played FFXI for a little over a year starting at the US release date. I havent played since Dec 2004 though as i have a new MMO to play with.

FFXI was a pretty awesome game though, and its high subscription rates (# of paying players) is testament to this. Particularly mentioning outside Japan, because everyone in Japan plays XI.

Monthly fees... i guess you have never played a proper subscription MMO before. For the most part, some of us here are computer nerds in some way or another, so you must understand the costs of running an online game. Imagine the server base and the bandwidth of such an event. So realistically there must be a monthly fee.

When you factor in a monthly fee of say around 15-20 AUD, it really isnt that much considering you probably spend that much in some way of entertainment on a monthly basis. For example i see 2 to 3 movies at the cinema a month, not to mention go to many fancy restaurants and such. The gaming monthly fee has probably got the lowest running costs in my entertainment schedual.

But back on topic, i am also looking forward to FFXII. It's an absolute blast that they are going to be using the setting and backdrop from the Tactics and Tactics Advanced games. If you know you're games, then you know Tactics has the best FF setting. Funnily enough, XII will also be using a modified XI (the MMO) combat system. In the end, it helps to know all the games to fully appreciate playing the one.

Hehe, here we go.

I particularly like the storyline and advancement in grafx in FF8.

However, FF10 seems to stand out. It's got great grafx and nice music too...

It seems that I cant sleep tonight.. Mad

I've only ever played FFVII but its been the best overall RPG I have ever played. The characters were cute, the world was big, it was colourful.

Since that time, I have now listened to every major FF soundtrack/piano collection available and the whole collection is simply fantastic.

Can I say hearing Liberi Fatali live last year was awe inspiring, hear-standing-on-end stuff.

isn't the new FF7 game gonna be called cerberus or something and the main guy will be vincent? dunno what the story's gonna be but before that i need to play FFX and later ones. Because i don't have a PS2 Sad

anyway, back to the topic... i reckon FF7 is soo cool with the materia system, FF8 has the most complicated magic system, i still have no idea how to set them up Smile, for FF9, well the cd was spewing at me for some reason and everytime it goes to CG just crashed, sucks

for simplicity i reckon FFVI, not too complicated, not too simple and with great story line, niceeeee!

Dire of Cerberus. Just imagine Devil may Cry, but with Vincent as main char.
I didnt find FFVII to be the best. Much more prefer FFVI on the basis of music, FF Tactics on story. I love the snes ones...
Advent childern used ALOT of FFVII Piano collection..

I really can't choose a favourite, i liked ff7, 8, 9, 10 probably the most. I'm still stuck in ff4... hehe silly me. My favourite thing about 7 was the storyline and the characters. In 8 i really love the character designs and world designs, oh and especially the music. i love 'Eyes on me'.
FF9 was great because it was sooo cute! I can play Melodies of Life on piano *poses majestically* Razz
Oh! oh! and at the end of ffx (i wont spoil it... but Razz) when they play 'Suteki Da ne' i start to cry. I love that song too. Nobuo's my hero Very Happy
oh oh!!! and i love Terra's theme in 6, it's soo pretty *gazes into the distance*

wish i have time to study more japanese to understand more of suteki da ne (i can understand some words of the song, but hey the expression pretty much tells everything anyway), gotta love the song but no PS2 no chance for me to play Sad

but they say it's really complicated so I'll play them when the game gets really really cheap, plus the OZ version is dubbed which kinda ruins the game a bit, i want the japanese one but the kanjis arrgghhh, too many of them i dunno

ok lulu, show us what u've got with melody of life Wink

it is confusing to play the new FF series out these days, the best battle materia arrangements was in VII
VIII just made things slightly confusing

then IX was just confusing, most of the characters couldnt even launch out summons, and where was the "knights of the round"?! grrr.....^^;;;

i saw my brother play X though, NOW that battle setup was really confusing with the large circle slots...=/

i just gave up the moment i saw that setup ><""

*runs away*

My favourite is FFIX... but FFVII, FFX and FFVII: Advent Children follow very closely... very closely indeed. Although I haven't finished it, I think FFIV is one of my favourites as well.

I'm really looking forward to FFXII though. It looks like something fresh that will play very differently to any of the other titles.

...I wanna learn Melodies of Life too Embarassed
