I just found the weirdest PC I want:

"It has a touch sensitive display surface that interacted with devices placed on it and in response to the motions of the user's hands."

Wow

That was on the news a couple of nights ago.
I dont see what the fuss is all about.
All they've done is turned what could have been done a pen tablet and made advances on that so it reacts to a pair of human hands.

Give any artist a wacom cintiq over that table computer.

I just got my htpc back up over the last couple of days.
It runs a treat! dual digital tuners with media portal!

That's a concept Microsoft is developing where everything you do is by touch. It seems that they were working on this for a couple of years now... Pretty huge though.. its like a table!

it'll be interesting if they just so happened to force everyone onto that system like how they're always clever at making us all change to the latest o/s >_>;

You know what I thought of when I first saw Microsoft Surface?

MINORITY REPORT.

You know how he uses his hands to mess around with the footage from the three precogs to determine who, where and when the murders are?

But Surface is not holographic. Oh well.
Great concept, I reckon!

CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO!!!

It shows a research scientist demonstrating the same touch screen technology that Microsoft is using for Surface at a convention in August LAST YEAR!!!!

You still need need a keyboard. Either that the thing comes with a physical keyboard or speech recognition needs to be improved dramatically.
As anyone who has used a touch screen or something that doesn't offer tactile feedback to type will tell you, typing on a touch screen is a completely failure.

I actually like the feel of the keyboard too....although I have no idea why people use those stupid curved, contoured keyboards.

Ergonomics is a REALLY important factor when considering new user input tools.
For me, the fact that I can physically feel the keys being pressed down as I type is a great way of knowing I'm actually doing it. Typing on flat screens has never worked well for me, and actually does give me hand cramps, whereas my keyboard now doesn't.
And I know this is nitpicking, but I also seem to like the keyboards tilted up a bit as compared to being totally flat as like in a laptop, for the same reason as a touch screen keyboard.

As a way of being able to control the workspace, I think the multiple touch screen is GREAT, but when it comes to typing, I think I'd prefer a conventional keyboard, as cumbersome as it may be Razz
