Hi Eminence and fans thereof! I see the requests threads are locked (gah I got here too late!) so I'm not sure if this topic is welcome, but 'we want to hear everything', so this is my little bit of everything.
The encore of 'Meridian Dance' at Passion is tied first with the 07 'Gnosis' performance for me in terms of Absolute Best Eminence moments, and I was so incredibly sad when I got the cd and it wasn't on there. A quick word with Yura-san at the meet-n-greet (...those are priceless and precious, you guys rock so hard for that) suggested why it couldn't be on there...so...another performance of Meridian Dance at some point would be spectacular. It was so out-of-the-blue and so perfect.
In the Anime 07 requests, someone suggested Sadame from X by Naoki Sato. When I listen to that, I constantly imagine it's Eminence playing it.
One last suggestion: have you considered any of the Ys music from Falcom? I had to go to Japan earlier this year to hear some of it but even there, I don't think you'd ever see a full orchestral performance, since a lot of it is 'rock/metal', but there are also numerous 'symphonic' cds as well...Eminence doing 'Termination' from YS ORIGIN would be incredible.
Anyway, thank you, as ever. From experience, I can say you guys are -the- best at what you do. (I know, this isn't a fan-gush forum, but hey. You are.) |

Signed. Signed. And Signed.
Meridian Dance. Falcom music. I think we can get along quite well.
Tower of Destiny/Fate from Ys 3/Oath in Felghana is good for an orchestra too
Edit: <offtopic> You didn't go to the Falcom concert in March did you? D: </offtopic> |

Yeah too bad about Meridian Dance. Trust us, it was supposed to be on the album.
Though, you wont be dissapointed if you go to our latest 'Destiny -Reunion' concert |

/offtopic as well
Yes I did, ryunite. Spur of the moment, been waiting to hear Falcom live for almost 15 years. I'd give anything to hear Ys live in Australia, and I really love how Eminence take that risk: they play music to games most of us may never get to play because the music is good...not necessarily because we like the games and associate our pleasure at the music with game-play.
/ontopic (...?!)
Thanks for the feedback, dimix. A-reserve booked and all -- just like always. I can't stop watching the recently posted Song of Storm and Fire on youtube from Passion. Another song blatantly absent from the cd...but at least we got Time's Scar, mastered and with Mitsuda-sama's performance!
Another suggestion, though: where are the Eminence wearables? I'm tired of having to pick out clothes to wear to these performances!
(edit: ah, there's already a thread about it...) |

Pertaining to the above: I *Love* my Eminence t-shirt. Thanks guys!
Okay, so my little crusade to hear Falcom orchestral music live has a new battle-standard. I've recently gotten my hands on some of the newer stuff from Falcom's 'other' series, Eiyuu Densetsu aka Legend of Heroes: Sora No Kiseki.
On the arranged cd for Sora No Kiseki First and Second Chapters is a tune called 'Enormous Fright'. It's arranged by Yukihiro Jindo, the man responsible for transforming the Ys III OST into the 'Oath in Felghana' wonder. Anyway...has anyone else here heard 'Enormous Fright'? After ten years of loving One Winged Angel, I've finally found a boss theme I'm all-too-glad to champion. Does it replace OWA? Yeah, for me it does. But a decade's a long time for any one piece of music to reign.
As Falcom pushes further and further towards a Squeenix-influence mix of choir and orchestra but with their trademarked rock/synth sound (but didn't Uematsu, with Black Mages, subtly ride the JDK band-wagon?), there is more and more material from that camp I'd simply -love- to hear live.
One issue is the vocals in 'Enormous Fright' seem like they'd be tough as heck to learn...
Other tracks from Sora no Kiseki I'd like to hear live are 'Guardians of the Treasure (arranged)' and 'The Merciless Savior'.
Who knows -- maybe Falcom themselves will realise how awesome their orchestral stuff would be live and take a break from their j-pop/rock concerts (which rock in their own way, of course)...I'd go to Japan for that.
Still, if I can hope any orchestra in the world might take up a previously unappreciated cause...it'd be the guys who brought Mitsuda to our shores...

That's right, Steve Conte
How hard would it be to get him down to sing for us in Melbourne?
I reckon it would be awesome and anyone who is a fan of his work with Yoko Kanno would love it!
That's my suggestsion, thanks.[/b] |
