Has anyone mentioned Yoko Kanno yet?
She's one of the most recognised composers in Japan and her music just takes your breath away!
When I think fantasy (in terms of anime), I think Escaflowne. It's a bit old by now, but nonetheless, it's an amazing series. And Yoko was the one who composed the tracks for it.
Please listen to the Escaflowne soundtracks; there are SO MANY orchestral pieces in it and the music is so beautiful!! Here are some Escaflowne songs all composed by Yoko kanno:
- Angel
- First Vision (from the Escaflowne: Girl in Gaia Movie)
- Escaflowne Battle Theme!!! aka. Dance of Curse (it would be so exciting to do this piece!)
- Shadow of Doubt
- Arcadia

Other songs:
Chrono Cross: Dream of a Shore Near Another World
Inuyasha: Toki o Koeru Omoi
Record of Lodoss War, composed by Yoko Kanno: Kiseki No Umi/Sea of Miracles

Please consider these suggestions!

Final Fantasy VIII - Liberi Fatali
Mononoke Hime - Legend of Ashitaka

These have been recently performed from the previous ANIF concerts. :3

So yes, I second a Kanno Yoko piece be added into the upcoming concerts (Pwease~!!!!)

Not to mention the soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop, which in my opinion is totally amazing. It's different than her previous works, since it's full of jazz, blues or bebop, but still I can listen to it till the end of world Wink

Yup, the movie was great indeed. But as for me, the series was way better than the movie. It's a matter of taste, though Smile

I totally support this suggestion!

Here are the songs I think would be great to perform (composed by Yoko Kanno):

"Arcadia" and "Vision of Escaflowne" - from the Lovers Only soundtrack of Escaflowne
"Ai no Rinkaku" - from the Brain Powerd anime soundtrack (it's the Opening song of the anime, by the way)

There are many other great songs by Kanno, but these are the ones I particularly love AND think wouldn't be too hard to manage performing.
