I studied Japanese in yr 7 and 8. But my teacher moved to sydney, which meant if i continued to study it it would have been from a text book and a teacher that doesn't know japanese O_O so no japanese at school for me after that. But i've tried to learn it on my own since high school but german got in the way, so after i'm done with my german, it's back to japanese Very Happy

I'd like to go to Japan, probably will when I get a chance!!! I heard it's very expensive though and its a huge mistake to go without someone who knows the language/etc!

Im actually going to Japan in April 2006.

Going to spend 2 weeks in Tokyo and the surrounding district, then make my way upto Sapporro to meet a friend finishing his job in the ski field, then spend the next 2 weeks touring Hokkaido, and seeing everything down to Kyoto/Osaka.

I probably won't get a chance to see Okinawa though. Bummer...

I think 2 week @ tokyo is not enough, may need 3 weeks if u want to see everything there. Looks like you going to have a logn trip there any way.

3 weeks? My friend said he found 2 weeks too much even? Perhaps we have different things in mind that we want to see.

Personally I hope to indulge myself in cultural festivals and activities as well as sight see alot of museums, galleries, temples etc.

Im completely going to boycott the novelty things like Disneyland. I really dont find it appealing at all.

Anything you recommend me to see in Tokyo since you think I won't get enough time to see everything? Smile

i think the hk disneyland is ok
the disney train is decorated nicely
although it's the smallest, u still need a whole day to see all the things inside

beside, how much shopping could u do in hk?? causeway bay + mongkok

You're right, having more than 34,000 people in the park all the time is abit weird, doesn't matter morning or night, you need queue up 30-40mins for a popcorn...its weird..

30-40? nuts, might as well bring sandwiches from home....

btw what about the universal studios? i went there back in 2001 and was good, but i didn't have much time to explore the whole place which really sucks but luckily it was during school time so me n host brother only needed to Q prob like 20 min max, some others is like a walk in straight away one Razz

Universal studios actually hired foreigners who sort of looked like the characters (e.g. Terminator) for the live performances. Disneyland uses Japanese actors for the most part and plop blonde wigs on their heads.

Nothing wrong with either, just noticed the difference.

Universal studios is definitely better, that is, unless you're part of the "under-6" crowd.

Thought not.

Gotta go to the Ghibli museum, that's top of my list for when I eventually get over there. But you have to get tickets months in advance and stuff.
