Wow, just got back from the cinema. Watched Pirates with a couple of my best mates. All giddy and excited after overdosing on coke and sugar and other assorted non-essentials; why does the bad stuff that isn't good for you always taste so good.
Will definitely be seeing this again. Definitely. Man, this movie had it all! Action, romance, horror, comedy, the works. The music! I love the Pirates OST. Best of all, it never took itself seriously, you could see it in the way the actors portrayed their characters. They seemed to have great fun playing them, and we had great fun watching what was happening on screen. The special effects was not to be scoffed at.
The cinema was jampacked, bear in mind this was the day after the opening. The movie was great and the people laughed and had a great time. This is what a good movie is about.
I'll tell you some more once I get some rest. I never checked my watch once during this movie. That's pretty cool as well. _________________

It was great, too bad 2 doesn't have an ending but ironically enough, 1 does. xD. Only 31x days until POTC 3 is out, Some time in June, 2007.
But you have heard of me. - Captain Jack Sparrow

It would seem better because 1 had an actual ending. So just think of 2 and 3 as 1 movie split into 2 parts, i'm sure you'll appreciate 2 more once you see 3. They are actually so close they filmed both the movies footage at the same time
Also I doubt Jack dies, if he did, then the voodoo woman would have to perform a resurrection of some sort. As you can see a lot of the ideas are taken from Monkey Island the game, so yah, if you are a POTC fan, then i recommend you playing that game

| Did anyone else think that the locket that was on the Voodoo lady's table that Jack Sparrow was eyeing off looked remarkably similar to the "music box" locket that Davy Jones fell asleep to? |

It's a typical scenario of money milking. Funny that the first one didn't need a sequel in any way yet the second one ends in a cliffhanger that makes a third inevitable. It gets so ridiulous toMike Myers et al signing contracts for Shrek 5. But you can't blame the movie industry though. Movies cost so much to make and they are huge risks. So if a formula is successful, why gamble again? Just recycle it and you're garunteed a finacial success no matter how bad it might be.
That however does not go to say that I did not enjoy this movie. It was great. Just the ending made me a little mad. Depp does an excellent job with the character of Captain Jack Sparrow. I really don't want to anticipate 3 but I just can't help myself. |

The difference is Pirates works, it's sequel worked. It made the biggest opening weekend in America. Ever. Filthy sales, just filthy.
The film was not as good as the first, but still great. The ending was...well...don't you people...gah I'm not spoiling things. _________________

I went to see Pirates 2 for the second time this weekend and I noticed that too! I really don't think I took everything in the first time around...I was laughing too hard.
So voodoo lady and Mr. Jones know each other maybe? |

Pirates 3...voodoo lady revealed to be immortal..or extremely long-lived...such that she was...*wink wink nudge nudge* an acquaintance of Davy Jones.
...as long as they don't make Elizabeth Swann his reincarnated lover or something... >_> |

It's alright, I was kidding above. I think. The big twist of Pirates 3 will be that Swann ends up with Davy Jones...and that Jack Sparrow ends up with Orlando's character... |
