I find it admirable that he showed such dedication from such a young age.
While I would practise really diligently if I liked a particular piece, I found it really hard to focus on things which I didn't fancy...
I guess thats the big difference between beginners/novices versus pros like these guys here. They have talent and possess the dedication which others lack. Just my 2 cents. |

wow. Masaki seems cool. all these musicians seem.. not like anyone expects a classical musician to be.. (i think)/ how much do you practice? how much does anyone practice?
|
How much do I practice? I don't think I do it as much as I used to, but you tend to practise when there's a concert/recital/recordings coming up. And then you could easily just lock yourself in a room and not come out till you get it right. I think Hiro practises a lot. He's a practise freak! That's why he's that good!

Well, when I first met Masaki he was a young lad of about 12. Even then, he already had that little spot of scar tissue under the chin that violinsts get from practising all the time...
|
G'Day Chris! how're ya doin'?! yeah, that violin "hicky" used to cause quite a bit of missunderstanding...
Some violinist get it a lot (like Nigel Kennedy), and then there are others that hardly get it. Most violinist will get a mark just under the left chin. Next time you bump into a violinist/violist, go check it out! _________________ 2003 ANIF

The Ergonomic Violin.
| Quote: |
| The interchangeable frames include a ‘self-supporting’ option, where the player no longer needs to grip the instrument under the chin to hold it whilst playing. This addresses the long-standing problem of playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) in violinists’ necks and shoulders.

Say goodbye to the old hicky.

Hahah I remember you admiring it! It's really fun to use.
Hope I see you at the next concert! |

Hi Manfa! Thanks for all the praise and support! I'm most flattered!
And please, call me Masaki!
Just out of curiosity, are you more an anime fan or Final Fantasy fan?
Next ANIF concert, you have to make sure you come and talk to me afterwards.

Hi there Twilite! I do have a student currently doing 7th Grade AMEB (I presume that's what you're talking about.)
Do you play the violin as well? _________________ 2003 ANIF

Hmm; there's a quartet called FourPlay (Saki will remember 2 of the guys; we went to school with Peter and Tim Hollo) who do modern pop/rock music arranged for classical quartet... _________________ --

Hi Twilite! Sorry about the slo reply... Been kinda busy...
Hmm.... ya know, I think one of the main reason I love playing in the Eminence Symph is that I'm a huge Studio Ghibli (and also some of the video game), and that's why I find it fun to play thier music. I reckon any music you enjoy, you enjoy it cos it has some kinda effect on you. I mean, I grew up with all those Nintendo games years ago, and I still get a kick hearing Super Mario's theme! LOL (BTW, I still haven't been able to finish FF8)
I listen to a lot of "Classical" stuff as well, and I find they're fantastic! I know most of the "Eminence musos" would love to perform Beethoven's Symphonies, but variety is the key I think, and I don't know any other orchestras that do Super Mario music!
talking of "cool" music, yeah, like mrgazpacho mentioned, the locally brewed "Fourplay" is cool. There's also "Coda" which is more like "world music" and there are heaps around if you look, like "Bobby Yang" and "Bond"... _________________ 2003 ANIF

rite now...we're playing beethoven's 5th lastmovement and brahms academic festival overture. the brahms sounds so.......bad..
did those quartet groups ever release any music that i can find on the web or somefin? or ne decent game/anime/jmusic transcribed for quartet? coz its so damn hard to find good ones - more like hard to even find one !
neway, gtg go back to work...web project due soon _________________ Life is a struggle...right from the very beginning...
