even though we are allowing people to come...we still need to sort out a rough number of people who are coming...which would lead to the expenses of the food o___o and the amount of coal and number of bbq thingos which cook food if it was reali that much people XD.

i hope people can make it =/ Smile

yup yup Smile

I was gonna do this somewhere with a public bbq, so its easy to just get there and start cooking.

im only going to purchase as much meat according to the number of confirmed participants.

so im going to start a register with a deadline to confirm by (which will be a long time away)

and we'll set a price on the contribution afte we've gathered a estimation on food/drinks/utensils etc.

Smile

until we set a date, lets take it easy for a while! still got over 3 months to go!

well here is a rough list of what you need at a bbq.

meat - sausages,steak,etc
cooking utensils - tongs, spatula's(metal spatula's needed.)
oil
eating utensils - knives, forks, plates, cups
drinks
salad (or some other vege mix thingo)

any more stuff to add to the list?

Desert = Cakes! Muffins! And a BIIIIIIIG watermelon.

Maybe bring a beach umbrella, a mat, fold up chairs etc?

Confused we definitely need a large large esky and a large amount of ice for the drinks. Snacks like chips and similiar items sounds good too. Also we gotta consider alternatives for vegans who dont wanna eat just salads.
I think i vote nay on the fruit's coz they get messy when u cut them up (unless already pre-chopped) especially a BIIIIIIIG watermelon, unless u dont mind cutting it up and serving all of us Dacia?

Nah, we just take a BIIIIIG watermelon to the beach, bring a couple of baseball bats and whack repeatedly till fit to be eaten. Azumanga style.

mats are probably the better way to go...since carrying fold up chairs on public transport for most of us...its troubling.

mats!!!

if we can find a tree with no birds around, then we won't need beach umbrellas.
(I am scared of being pooed on.)

^You can NEVER get bored. Are you joking me? XD

Walk around, chat, raid kiddy's paygrounds, sleep under the sun, bury someone under the sand/dirt, throw crayons, play cards, play footsies, waltz etc.

i'll be responsible for it, unless someone wants to give me a hand which is always welcome.

remember! its still a few months away!

we still havent decided on a location either! i dont wanna default to choose Coogee because its pretty far for everyone to get to!

But then again, it'll be nearing summer around that time!

Can anyone suggest a good public bbq that they like?

I believe that ppl who want to organise this thing should have something like a gathering somewhere on a certain day with a detailed outline specifying things like food, money, people estimated to be there and so on. Or simply get one person to do that and the rest at the meeting can discuss and modify the outline of the bbq.

Theres quite alot to plan for the bbq if u actually sit down and think abt it. Like for instance people who buy the food supplies, how will the money be paid back to them? or who will collect the receipts for the food and identify who bought what and how much needs to be paid back to them?

. . . . . or maybe im just thinking toooo hard. "-_-"

People arriving on time may and has and will always be an issue =P
Other things to be concern is the fuel, money money...whose going to finance that first?

We havent even chosen a date yet, and so far it only has gone to choose a rough month without a date

So I'll suggest something just to keep the ball rolling in a specific direction

How about

2nd December?

lol you guys have formals, money there

getting formal gear, more money there

getting food for this bbq, more more money there XD

btw, you'd guys would have to bring money! for this event

We'll collect the money soon enough, if people are serious <--- thats the biggest problem atm. Someone has to fork out enough liquidable cash out, and rest of us will someone pay it back fairly XD

lol, can you people relax. yah ive done bbq's for groups around 50 ppl and below many a time before.

and with this amount of support, it'll be that much smoother too (thanks jyrds and others)

1) right now, yes i would like to decide on a date. sounds like the only person in a position to do this is Seraph seeing as the bbq may clash with some plans.

So Seraph, and action for u is to let us know when the best day to do it is. Can I rely on you for that?

2) I would like to compile and manage a list of attendee's. This includes friends and friends of friends. Basically anyone who is gonna eat/drink will have to put in for the costs and an accurate attendance list will better help us plan how much to buy. You'll need to manage this list as more people reply to be added on. I'd like someone to step up and do this please.

3) jyrds, can i rely on you to gather a food census on what our attendents would prefer to eat. categorise for lamb, chicken, beef, vegetarian, fruits. set up a poll if you wish.

if u can, could you also provide me with a price estimate for 30 people's worth of food. we'll work out utensils later.

4) lastly, location. once we pick a date, we'll decide on a definate location. but as a contingency i'd like to stick with Coogee beach because its close to public transport and i've used those bbq's many times before.

Lets set a deadline for this first batch of tasks for... 3rd September.

regarding costs, i'll put myself up for finances and ensure i get paid back ;P

would anyone like the job of debt-collector?

/sigh

I wanted our BBQ thing to be after our meeting so we get a better date to when to hold it...

but...

anywayz...

we have a potential concert on the 2nd of december, and a few weeks prior, out OTTs are busy flyering/postering/promoting etc. So, bear THAT in mind (maybe Sunday is good since many shops are closed and in the afternoon, not many people to shove their faces with flyers), organise another time ^^

I'd love to attend to this, but I may be very busy. Keep in mind, I start practice before most of you wake up and finish when you go to bed (besides crazy abnormal AV pwning resto druid who thinks he can PvP for crap like Jyrds)

Thanks Seraph.

How about the 3rd Dec (sunday), the day after the potential concert? Does anyone think there will issues with a Sunday event?
