At the Otakon 2007 show in Baltimore the ensemble played the climax track from Makoto Shinkai's A Place Promised in our Early Days. Just wondering, whose idea was it to pick this piece? And why?

Well, it's not just wondering. It has been bothering me since I heard it. It was great, but the fact that someone from Eminence picked this was just kept me awe-struck and amused. And confused, too, because I don't know why (besides that the piece is a great piece to play on its own). As far as I know the movie itself is not super popular, and it's while a couple years old, it isn't a classic that people would recognize like many of the other works from popular games and anime.

But despite that...wow. I like being pleasantly surprised.

I do like the music. And it was indeed very cool. Especially after seeing the film.

Seraph/Hiro have good taste, I can only hope that more music from Makoto Shinkai's works (music by Tenmon) are in future concerts.

Conveniently Hiro, most of Tenmon's music seems to be for strings and piano. Just right for a small ensemble?
