I was just wondering what the process was after the orchestra decides what pieces they want to play. Do they contact the anime / video game companies or their respective soundtrack companies and ask for a license to perform it?
And do they provide some sort of sheet music, or must it be rearranged to fit the orchestras requirements?

Im also wondering, how much would they charge to give out a license like that, since its like a one off thing...

Or you can just play it without letting them know Smile

Obviously it's not legal to do it without telling people, so yes Eminence does obtain the legal right to perform the music. Obviously this does entail discussion with the copyright holder(s).

As for sheet music, I'd assume so. I'm pretty sure Nintendo provided the Mario sheet music for the 05 performance, but I couldn't tell you facts, only what I can remember. (Which obviously could be wrong, given it was never my job to arrange music!)

The best way would be to purchase the sheetmusic Smile which are available at some stores and mostly online. That would be the original sheetmusic.

Or there are heaps of people out there who have transcribed the pieces themselves and allow people to dl them, which is legal. Unless the company has specified that their music is not to be transcribed under certain rules etc.
