I believe we arent allowed to take photos during concert. Can I ask if this is just to prevent flashes from going off and people moving around? Not that I think its wrong not to allow pictures to be taken (disturbance to audience and performers), I just want to be sure I cant take photos even if no flash is used.

edit: and I also understand if you have hired photographers to shoot (rights to exclusive photos etc..) or if you are worried about the pictures being used by others for commercial purposes without your knowledge.

You are indeed correct, there is to be no photographs taken. Yes, we will more than likely hire photographers for concerts. Yes, it is indeed annoying for both the audience and the performers. The last thing you need is some annoying flash going off, I mean I used to play trombone at high school. Obviously far from this, but it was annoying then and I'm sure it would be now.

So yeah, no photos. Sorry!

I think the main concern other than the flash is the noise factor... cameras love making clicking sounds...

Noise and the "flash" itself.

We're good enough to ignore it but it is kinda annoying.

Also, NO TALKING!!!

There was this rude couple @ PSII who sat right at the front. They were so talking while we performed... you see, we're musicians... we hear all Twisted Evil

Also, the going off mobile phones. Some people just can't seem to put it on silence.

A good example would be during the end of the quartet's performance of Palchelbel's - Canon in D, then suddenly one person's phone went off with a muted message; and I can hear it because I was at the front.

Even Mirabai heard it and her face scrunched up in awkwardness as that do some other people in the front. The sound was such a off put to a good performance; anti-climatic.

I think it was the twilight session concert. I was at the front the whole time during the night session, there was no talking...except for that mobile phone bit :p

Gah, phones. Is it really hard to put them on silent? People in lectures at university still haven't learnt how annoying it is. TURN THEM OFF OR AT LEAST ON SILENCE, FOR THE LOVE OF ANIME.

I find it hard to believe people would talk during an orchestral/musical performance like this. The entire point of coming is to hear it after all.

I think if one would do a bit of selective clicking it's really quite easy to work out.

hhmm some wild guesses here, from the clues

clue 1: if seraph can hear the couple talking easily then he/she (sorry dunno who you are :p) is pretty much at the front part of the stage, ok maybe not

clue 2 : quoted[orchestra? ], reverse psychology here, must be in orcherstra Smile

clue 3: quoted by concinnity [ his, the violinist], a male musician specialised in violin

clue 4 : quoted by seraph [while we performed], hhhmmm they talked for a long time and i reckon you'll be annoyed if you have to perform especially more than twice and hear them at the same time

so the verdict (ok ok the guess Smile ): uuhh should i say this? i think i'll leave this to you all to guess :p sorry can't just expose people's name, privacy issues mate! Smile

whoops, forgot about this, the fact that he is an admin probably means he holds an important if not really high one within the concert Smile

Is there a way to enforce the no-camera rule?
Cuz seriously, John Williams and PianoStories II was f*cked up when people started snapping and flashing.

I was told that Mirabai flinched and lost distraction at one point cuz of it.

Seriously pissed me off man.

lol you mean an emf like in the matrix? lol.. that'll blow the sound system too unfortunately... ^^;;

Why don't we have people dress up in business suits and walk up to anybody who had their phone ring and warn them sternly to turn their phone off - and stand there until they see the person turn their phone off (say it's bad courtesy and they will be asked to leave if it occurs again.) ... that'll embarras the phone people and intimidate them..... mwahahaha... ok maybe not.. o.O hmm...

hhhmmm talking about EMF thing like in matrix, if you somehow can cover the whole of town hall with metallic cage or something like it, it will block all incoming EM signals including mobile phone signals but of couse that will be impossible Razz

yeah, i wish i can be 1 of those wearing the suits intimidating them haha Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil , oh yeah but then again you have those idiots who will die without injection of radiation from their mobile phones all the time :p , oh well can't come up with a good idea, btw how do they deal with these stuff just say.... with concerts in sydney opera house?

I guess Eminence could also point out that there's a recording by Eminence anyway - https://www.eminenceonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=91.

So you could advertise it in the pamphlet or something, so there's no need for cameras etc. Smile
