there are left-handed violins, just have to look hard for it, even if you dont find one immediately...you could always ask the shops if they know any suppliers that do cater for people who need left-handedly

although you could try playing it with your right-hand, it could be a challenge to not play instruments left-handedly but your right-hand

The point, I am doing every thing with my left, I tried to hold a violin with my left hand and play with right hand(normal way), but it was extremly difficult for me.

that depends, pianos are symmetry, violins arent unfortunately depends where you rest your head that makes it left handed or right handed

It's said that left-handed guitarists who play the "traditional" right-handed way are actually at an advantage, since the preferred hand acts as the fretting hand. I would imagine that violins work in a similar way.

It's nothing out of the ordinary for left-handed guitarists to use right-hande guitars, especially since it's far too much trouble to purchase special (and expensive, might I add) equipment. It's much more convenient to simply conform to the typical arrangements. Surely this would apply to the violin, too?

[ slightly OT ]

i have a friend who's in a band and he plays the guitar for right handed people... and his friend who's left handed plays right handed guitar better than my friend does! And my friend isn't crap at guitar, he's graduated with honors from some academy in japan.. forgot what it was called though..

boils down to how much experience or whatever you're used to

left-handers and right-handers became that because theyve gotten used to it Razz

yep you can definately train yourself either way. Although you might not be as good as you potentially could have been if you go against your natural tendencies.

yeah i'm left handed yet play a right-hand guitar albeit not exceedingly well. But then again, i guess i'm sorta semi-ambidextrous (i do some things with left, others with right but cant switch over randomly and still be profiecient like some nutcases =P).

My friend's left handed and he plays the violin pretty well. You just gotta get used to it mainly...

After all, Leonard Bernstein was a left hander and he was adept in the piano.

i dun play violin, but i dun think whether u r left handed or right handed really matters in music because it's more on co-ordination skill than power. If you are talking sports like tennis, yeah to play with your more active hand is better. But then again, it's all in the practice i reckon Smile just like dimix said

well i thought that some left handers become right handers when they play instruments =/ like my brother...he writes with his left hand but he does sport wif his right hand and so on =/

but i fink it wuld be hard fo find a left hand guitar =/ actuali..my brother had to learn the right hand side of a normal guitar coz it wuld be so hard to find a left hand guitar and yeah =D just a matter of adaption i guess
