No. What really happened was that after a few minutes of waiting the guy asked the girl behind him whether she was Patricia*. She was disappointed at him and said no, and gave a fake name. She deleted and blocked him from her contact list and I only found out about this event a year later.
*Michael and Patricia are not their real names.
