|
|
Person A walk in to shop X, he bought a product priced 25 dollars, he pay the shop X owner 100 dollars, the owner dont have correct change, he took the 100 dollars cash and went to shop Y to exchange to smaller notes. Shop X owner then gave 75 dolloars change back to Person A. After person A left, Shop Y owner came back advise the 100 dollars note is fake, under no argument Shop X owner pay back Shop Y owner 100 dollars real cash.
The question is how much did shop owner X lost during this incident?
*Assume the cost for that product is also 25 dollars. _________________ Music is my soul

hahahaha, man shop A needs a new cash register
whats funny is...
Why would shop X give 75 back to person A if he already broken down that value from shop Y?
Shop X lost 200 bucks of course
100 from the fake money, = 75 real money return to Person A + 25 for product (lost of income)
100 given to Shop Y _________________

Y shop lost 100 dollars (because its fake money)
Person A gets product as well as $75 of real money (doesnt loose anything. except for fake cash)
X shop gained 25 dollars (from Y shop)
so in the end, X shop gets his money worth of what he sold to customer A, therefore he didnt loose anything. but Y shop has the fake money so he looses $100
X gains 25 out of selling product. |

Guys and gals, this is a primary shcool math question, believe it or not, more than 80% of kid answer it correct, but more than 80% "smarty" answer it wrong. This is a maths question, no tricks. _________________ Music is my soul

hint 2: at some point, you have to "reverse" the calculation
try coins, or think how much money is in the scenario _________________ I dunno better things to write for my signature so here it goes! |

Either $125 or $150
$150 if you include the fact X has lost a further $25 from not being able to obtain a real $25 from a future customer wishing to purchase that product.
edit: Might just be me, but is this primary school question worded using primary school grammar? The incorrect grammar complicates the problem.
trick question answer: The answer is that primary school kids should concentrate less on maths and more on English. _________________
