My 16X dual layer DVD/RW is starting to act dodgy. It can only write at half it's normal speed, a measly 4X and can only read at an abyssmal 8X. The problem seems to be permanent. The slow speed is annoying to say the least where once I could have reached at least 8X. *sigh*

And it has taken to stuttering as well, an even greater annoyance. It has taken to stuttering during some movies and during some scenes.

Does any one know what the problem might be? Should I take it back to get it checked out? Any suggestions? I know it can't be a virus or malware or spyware.

Thanks Very Happy

Have u been reading or burning too many discs? Burning more than 4-5 DVDs one after another may cause your problem as it gets too hot.

While that may be a problem with my old BenQ DVD/RW, stupid dodgy model, it's definitely not the case with my current Pioneer one. This is the first time I've had issues with it. Mayhap it might be because of wiring coming loose inside the tower case?

This was an unexpected occurance, it just suddenly decided to change speeds one day.

It's certainly really annoying as I now can't watch movies without fear of the movie stuttering.
