Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin is dead after being attacked by a stingray on the Great Barrier Reef during the filming of a new TV series. The 44-year-old's heart is believed to have been pierced by the stingray's barb.

I just heard it on the news not long ago, I was very shocked. The man seemed to know all the dangers of the animals he handled and with the medical technology avaliable to celebrities, I couldn't believe that a barb would kill him.
He was never my favorite of celebrities, he enforced the Australian stereotype to forgieners but reminded us of it all the same. But the man truly did care for all animals and that, I respect him for. |

I was pretty horrified when I heard.
And with his children being so young too... |

I heard this at school, it was pretty unbelievable... He contributed so much to our country and was truly an individual. I can't begin to imagine what his wife and children would be feeling at the moment.

T.T i heard about this from a friend right after school while walking home. I was thinking it was some hoax, but quickly got on the net to see.
Total horror hit me, I'm actually quite saddened by this, more so for his wife and kids, as they were a pretty young family.
You never think about these things. Steve Irwin lived through so many of his stunts we all thought he was invincible, but we see how delicate one life can be and how easily it can end.
Such a shame =/

Irwin once said that if he were to die whilst doing one of his stunts, that he'd want it captured on video- even if he were being eaten by a croc. He reckoned it would upset him if his crew denied him that.
I was shocked when I heard that, but it shows how much dedication he put into his work. _________________ "I have a love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine, and a rage in me the likes of which you would not believe.
