Man !!! The main theme is so beautiful. The flow of the melody is so catching. ^^ Hiro ! I hope that future ANIF concert will perform some of his work on "A Chinese Tall Story".

not just the theme song, the entire album except one track by nicholas tze. That heavy rock style music is hell and i dislike it. >.< Never like nicholas tze's music. >.< The theme song composed by Joe Hisaishi reminds me of the theme song from My Neighbour Totoro. ^^ A bit similar. Very Happy

It's strange that on the website, it's stated the movie will be out on 22nd of dec but my friend has already watched it. She's the one who intro me Joe's new album. ^^

Aihiro, it's quite ez to recognise his style. Besides, one of his main instruments that is frequently used in his music is flute. There's something special about the flute that he used. It's not the usual sound of a flute that u hear from an orchestral. It's just a type of flute that makes it unique from other flutes. ^^ It's like some kind of trademark that indicates it's his music. hehehe. Anyone knows the name of the flute he uses in his music ? Perhaps u might know, Hiro. (i'm eager to find out the name of that flute. >.<)

I think that the flute in this piece is your standard chinese flute - it has a range of aprox 2 and a half octaves, so a little less than the orchestral flute. It's also made bamboo which gives it that different almost warmer timbre.

In regards to composers, it's pretty easy to pick out most well known ones. When you've heard enough of their music you notice their style and particular likes in terms of rhythm, melodic development etc. They all have comfort zones for thier music...for example, Hisiashi likes open 3rds and 5ths in his melodic development, and mainly sticks to the tonic and dominant chordal progressions. I find that when he uses a minor key, it's usually natural minor, rather than harmonic. So that means he doesn't sharpen the 7th in the scale. It gives the minor key a less harsh, more flowing tonality.
