Orchestral Scoring
Measuring 440 square metres (4,800 square feet) and boasting 10 metre (30 foot) high ceilings, Trackdown Studios enormous main hall comfortably holds over 100 musicians.
The facility includes a Yamaha C7 grand piano, two isolation booths with perfect sight lines into the control room and main hall, a musician's green room, and a large undercover outdoor recreation area.
Trackdown Studios offers the highest quality equipment which ensures that recording sessions and the end result are truly world class.
The Trackdown control room is equipped with a Yamaha DM2000 digital console and a Pro Tools HDAccel II system - with 56 inputs fed from 48 channels of Raindirk LN series microphone pre-amplifiers and 8 channels of Millennia pre-amplifiers. There are also 48 channels of Digidesign 192 interface analogue inputs complemented by 24 channels of Genex high quality A/D converters.
With 5.1 surround monitoring, the Trackdown control room is capable of up to 256 tracks and operates up to the sample rate of 192khz.
This system is complemented by a second Pro Tools HD2 system specifically for mastering, mix, picture, and guide track playback and a third system for Virtual VTR picture playback.
Trackdown Studios scoring credits include Australia, Happy Feet, Echoes of War, Aquamarine, Salem's Lot, and Soul Calibur IV.
Mixing
Trackdown Studios most recent facility addition is 'Mix One', a 5.1 mix suite for audio and music.
As with the scoring stage control room, 'Mix One' features a Yamaha DM2000 digital console plus two Pro Tools systems (one HDAccel II and one HD3), 42" Samsung LCD HD 1080p TV, a selection of plug-ins, including Waves and the Abbey Road bundle, and 'most favourably' a window to the outside world.
'Mix One' is not only a world class mixing suite, it can also be easily converted into a composer's suite, providing the perfect location for clients to compose their next score.
David Hirschfelder used 'Mix One' as his composing suite whilst writing the music for Baz Luhrmann's Australia. More recently, Marco Beltrami mixed his score for Knowing with engineer John Kurlander in 'Mix One'.
Remote Scoring and Recording
No matter where you are in the world, if your project be it a film, television program or video game requires a music score or any type of music/audio recording of a world class standard, you can record at Trackdown Studios from the comfort of your own studio.
Trackdown uses 'Source Connect' to enable audio connections between Pro Tools systems anywhere in the world. 'Source Connect' allows for direct timeline recording with real-time, high quality audio, using T1 cable, or DSL Internet connections.
The Eminence and Trackdown team can arrange everything for you including musicians, conductors, and copyists to ensure that the process is managed down to the smallest detail, promising the best results.
As Trackdown's Technical Director, Simon Leadley says, For a great score, you not only need to have a great sounding room, but a team with solid technical knowledge.
Composer John Powell scored Happy Feet with us and was so happy with the studio and the musicians that he chose to score PS I Love You remotely from his studio in LA.
We worked very closely with Source Elements, the creators of Source Connect and this technology enabled us to send synchronised symbols so that John could see the picture and hear the orchestra in sync at his end.
Trackdown's remote scoring/recording credits include PS I Love You, Jumper, and the dialogue for Happy Feet and Australia.
