Yeah, sorry to disrupt the borads with this...but I need help ^^;
I need to present an english oral about the negatives to Euthanasia...
Any ideas about a catchy introduction?
And strong main points?
Please do not bother writing out a whole paragraph...I just need ideas ^^

not sure. but i think when doctors and nurses graduate they take like an oath or something which says they will do whatever to save a person. something like that,. morals/ethics or medical staff.. contradicts..
sorry if that wasnt any help.
if someone jumps off a cliff you cant save them in time. if someone jumps off a bridge (over water that is). its slightly possible. if someone wants to "euthanise" or whatever . its highly likely youd be able to save them.
but hey. that brings about freedom of choice. feedom... choices choices choices. sounds like jetstar hahaha!! (if you live in aus youd know that add) |

yeah... I'm pro-euthanasia, so i can't really help you on negatives...
Hollypoo: you're talking about the Hypocratic Oath which pretty much states "Do no harm". Bit more in depth than that, but that's the gist of it.
Negatives as described by the opponents are generally "right to life", illegality, assisted suicide, mass suicides of people who just want to die without reason...
but maybe a good point to mention is that the major opponents to euthanasia are the religions who view suicide as an affront to their beliefs.
Anyhows, hope that makes a bit of sense... you could probably follow on from some of this stuff to make better sense of it.
What you might want to look at is the website for Insight (an SBS show that had a debate about euthanasia)... it might have some dialogue about it and they'll have Pros and Cons.
Oh yeah... talk about Palliative care as an alternative if you want... it's rather interesting... but might not really fit in with ur negative euthanasia spin... might just be "life is meant to be hard. We shouldn't let other people give up if we have to live through it!" lol |

Yeesh moral stuff, big moral stuff.
I can't say I really swing one way or the other...negatives eh?
"Being the person to take the dying hope of someone defeats the purpose of humanity"?
I dunno, I'd never want to write one side or the other...good luck! |
